world military spending

I found this article on world military spending. Perhaps the world still does not have it’s priorities in order.
The USA alone accounts for around 48% of the world’s military spending approx $718 billion more than double that of pre 2001 spending.  Another interesting point is the recentincreases in military spending around the world leading the race is china with 165% (since1996).

I can imagine a very different world if this amount of currency was spent on constructive purposes. If killing innocent was not the prerogative and anything else was.
